KAPSER is a PRME (projet de recherche mono-\u00e9quipe\/single-team research project) research project funded by the French National Agency for Research (ANR) from 2025 to 2028. The main objective of KASPER is to use laboratory experiments and numerical simulations to push forward our understanding of karst formation, in particular through the theory of ghost-rock karstification. We will develop various modeling tools (WP1) in order to verify the theory of decoupled chemical and mechanical processes, and to have a better understanding of the conditions and locations of the creation of main conduits and cavities. These models will be related to laboratory dissolution experiments (WP2) with a special focus on observing the processes occurring before and after the breakthrough of the samples.
